Time passes in Kara's classroom and there are about five minutes left before the next period starts((Please learn what the plans are for next period before posting about it!)).
Kara feels the hands on her watch and nods her head slowly.
"Alright, guys. I'm going to send you home with a few simple questions for homework. I know, moan, groan, mumble. There are just some things I want you to be able to look up and answer. This homework will be strictly participatory. If you hand it in, you get an easy A. Got it?" Kara said and took a pile of papers off of her desk and handed the appropriate amount for each row of people to the person at the front of the row. "As you might have noticed when you walked in, there are books on each of your desks. Some of the questions you will be able to remember the answers to based on my lesson today, others you will have to find in your book and if you honestly can't find it in your book I don't mind if you find the answers online. Just try and read about them and learn, okay?" she said as she finished handing out the papers to be further handed out. The questions are as follows:
How many planets are there in the solar system?
How long does it take for Earth to spin on its axis? Mars?
What is tidal locking?
Is the universe truly infinite?
((It'd be cool if you could each write up answers to these for your characters, though I won't say I require it of course. I'm not the GM. Anyway, that's pretty much it for Kara in this class today.))
---
Julie was writing notes right up until when Ms. Garza said she was giving them homework. It was a bittersweet feeling to be assigned homework again. The bitter took over for now and she sighed and slumped in her chair.
"This again," she mouthed but didn't speak and stretched out her arms. When she received the papers to hand back, she reached behind her and gave the remaining two sheets to Eddy. This was really her first time noticing him, due to her pre-occupation, and she studied his stark contrast to the boy sitting next to him who was much more well dressed and seemingly more focused as well. "Hey. I'm Julie," Julie said quietly so that Eddy and Kenny could hear her. She figured she might as well introduce herself while she was looking at them.

As the teacher took attendance and each person raised their hand when their name was called out, Max took their time assessing the classroom. So, the ferret twins in the back of the class were druggies? Great. And the marten wasn't tired of people making jokes about his name, apparently. Quite the opposite, in fact - he seemed to enjoy it? Both Violet and Venrosh seemed uncomfortable in their own respective ways, but Max wasn't sure how just yet. And Jacob? Well... Max just smiled at the small rabbit, shaking their head at him. The civet raised their hand when their name was called. "Here," they took their turn saying in a hushed voice. The day was only just starting, and already the teen was finding it hard to focus. If only they'd been allowed to bring their headphones to school - music helped them to focus and study. But they understood why that would be problematic.

Miri accepted her paper from the student in front of her with a shaking hand, hoping to the all loving god Carl Sagan that he wouldn't strike up a conversation with her. Clutching it gingerly, she ducked down behind her book again and packed away her homework. But she wondered and looked forward to finding out who the brainy students in the class were.

((Apologies if this post sucks, got a bit of writer's block and just trying to squeeze something out to keep things moving!))
[Homeroom 1]
Alex nearly dozes off over the course of the class. Either he knew what they were talking about already, or he just didn't care. Either way, he began to shake his head a bit to wake himself back up at the mention of homework, though he still looked...completely and utterly disinterested. Thank fuck this was moving along, at least. He flicks his right ear and he winces, tilting his head to the side and smacking himself in the temple a few times with his wrist before rubbing it. "Shut up, damn it..." He mutters under his breath, waiting for the dismissal from class.
Katya, on the other hand, was actually writing down the questions; hey, it was something to do while waiting, and she'd take any help she could get grade-wise. Kaien, on the other hand, was already writing down the answers. Astronomy was something he had a great interest in; hell, science in general! ...except chemistry. He had a hard time wrapping his mind around that one.
---
[Homeroom 2]
The twins let out a quiet 'nerrrrd~!' to each other at Venrosh's response to having her name called. They giggled quietly between themselves, taking any opportunity they had to chat behind the teacher's back. Then there was the civet. Didn't they have huge dicks? Hopefully they could find out later, if even only by a google search. Still, they made a note to bother him later! The two seemed to largely disregard Jacob's commentary on them - they weren't glaring or anything, and seemed to hold no malice. Samuel quirks a brow, tough - noticing the rabbit hastily tossing away a crumpled-up piece of paper, and catching a glimpse of his expression.
"Evidence?" "Evidence."
The two plotted silently - already knowing what the other was thinking, a sly smirk mirrored between the duo...

Mathue couldn't help but smile at Eugene response to his name getting called as if he had just won the lottery. He just hope that excitement continued through out the school year. Though Eugene's would be the easiest to remember, he had to admit to himself, thanks to his last name. Venrosh's response was unsurprising really, in Mathue's mind anyway, she had come in sit down and tuned out everyone else. Seeing her embarrassment though Mathue just gave her a smile rather than get on her about no paying attention...after all is seems she already got the point. The once called Max however caught his attention as the Civet seemed to be in pain However he could see his class time was getting short so he wasn't going to call him/her out on it. "All right every one looks like class is just about up so I'll end this class with this. If you would like to add a bit more exercise to your life I hold weight classes and hour after school." He tells them looking around before looking up at the clock. "Well it seems I've run out of time to assign homework for tonight so it seem your luck has improved at least in this class" he says his voice in a joking manner "I'll see some of you in gym later today the others not until tomorrow. "That's all for this class you can talk until the bell rings. I'll be right over here if anyone needs to talk to me or has questions." With that he sits behind the seat and let's them have the last five minutes to themselves.
----------------
[Homeroom #2] Violet was glad that this day was one step closer to being done though it seemed the antics of the Twins had distracted the rest of the class from her. She briefly wondered if she should have spoke up about seeing the twins behind the shed but didn't want to draw attention to herself. As far as she was concerned the less attention she had the less likely her secret would get out which meant she wouldn't get picked on or bullied. Opening her book up once more she started to read until the bell rang.

As soon as Mister Reynolds relinquished his immediate authority over the class, and gave his students the freedom to converse with each other, Jacob was on his feet and walking up to the teacher's desk in his slick pair of black dress-shoes. Though fashionable and immaculately cared for, they restricted his ability to stand on his toes so he could better peer over the wolf's desk. The buck was still a little nervous around the hulking predator, but he pushed those thoughts into the back of his mind so he could focus on his intellectual pursuits.
In particular he had a very pressing, very urgent question. So as soon as Mathue made eye-contact, Jacob spoke up, "Excuse me... sir?" he started, with a half-glance back at the classroom behind him, then continued in a low voice, "I was wondering... if it isn't too much trouble, could I get the assignments for this week in advance? I'd like to get a head-start, if that's okay."

As soon as they were free to roam and Jacob had vacated his seat, the twins put the plan into action. One of them went to divert attention, moving towards Violet, Eugene, and the rest - the other slipping away once the other had the other students' attention, sneaking to Jacob's bag to quickly swipe the 'evidence'. The one that split off approached the other students with a smile and a sway to their hips; it really was hard to tell if it was Samuel or Samantha, even when up-close!
"They there! Bong, eh? You party~?" The ferret straight-up asks, winking at the marten. "And cute colors, by the way. Same goes for you~!" Sam says, turning to looking at Violet - eying the avian over. "You seem kinda nervous. Somethin' wrong?"

Mathue blinks twice at Jacob's request before giving a soft laugh. "Unfortunately as this is the first day in class I don't have all the assignments on me at the moment however Gym doesn't typically start until after lunch so if you'd like I can go speak with your teachers and see if they'll be willing to let me take a peek at their class planners and get those assignments to you eather after lunch or before you head home for today. How does that sound?" Mathue says to Jacob with a smile. He always liked when students took the initiative to get ahead in class.
----------------
Violet flinched slightly when one of the twins walked up and started to talk to everyone including her. She looks up at the Ferret in front of her, her eyes sweeping across the feminine body before catching herself and snapping her eyes back up to the Ferret's face "Sorry..." she says in a soft yet slightly musical voice thanks to her ancestry "...I'm not use to public school yet. I've been homeschooled the last few years because of issues in my last school."

At first Jacob had begun to frown and visibly wilt as Mister Reynolds explained the situation to him, but when the wolf offered an alternative solution, the young teen perked up again. He returned the enormous predator's smile with one of his own, both ears standing straight up with quiet excitement.
"Th--that sounds most agreeable, sir!" he said with a small trill in his voice. "Thanks! I'll check in again as soon as I can, sir."
Practically beaming, the buck dropped back down onto his heels and promptly returned to his desk... Just in time to see one of the ferret twins slinking back to their seat. Jacob's gaze narrowed imperceptibly as he watched the older teen, unable to determine gender still. Continuing to keep an eye on the suspicious predator, the rabbit returned to his desk to resume his notes. The page he was writing on still had the imprint from the previous page, unfortunately, where he'd pushed down hard with his pencil. So as he proceeded to delve into his complex equations again, bit by bit, unpleasant images began to form. Though quite abstract to anyone else, Jacob's guilty conscious filled in the voids until he was staring at his embarrassing, perverted doodles of the other students in his class again.
Blushing deeply, he ripped out the page. Rather than crumpling it this time, however, he shredded the paper into as many little pieces as he could, letting out his quiet frustrations until he had a pile on confetti on his desk. Eventually he swept it all into one paw and disposed of it in the nearest trash can. Looking for a distraction on his way back, he made the intentional detour to pass the goth girl's desk, where he slowed to a stop like he'd just thought to introduce himself.
"So uh... Venrosh, is it?" he inquired as casually as possible. "I'm Jacob... Are you supposed to be a Goth or something?"

Casey was... well, Casey was at a loss. On one hand these sounded like cheesy questions that she could totally screw with the teacher with. Because it's funny, of course! On the OTHER hand, actually passing the class would be good too. Ms. Garza hasn't REALLY given her a good reason to be a total pain in the butt. Yet.
She quickly scribbles down: 1.) 13 2.) Earth: Simple, relative to first measure, or relative to stars? -- Mars: By Earth or by Mars? 3.) Orbit matches rotation length 4.) Time, visible amount, or actual size? What is this, a graduate thesis debate?
She scratches her name in the corner and walks up to Ms. Garza, clearing her throat before dropping the paper on the desk. "You gotta be more specific with these! How are we gonna answer if we don't know what you're talking about? ...Wait a minute, how do you read this? Does someone else grade it? OOH do you have something that scans it and turns it into braille? That kinda seems like a waste..."
Just, you know, hammering away with the questions.
-----
DJ packs her things up and hauls her backpack onto her shoulder. She walks up to the front and stands off to the side of the desk until Ms. Garza is finished with Casey's gatling-gun questioning. "Just in case, when are your free periods this semester? Y'know, if I need to bug ya."

Kara turned her head up and faced Casey.
"I have something that scans it and reads it out to me. Full of questions aren't we? I'm being as specific as I want to try to gauge what level we're all at, remember? I'm not taking these assignments until tomorrow. If you are advanced enough to have a problem with the lack of specificity then do some research and answer the question to the best of your ability, same as people who aren't as advanced. Again, I appreciate your enthusiasm but it is the first day, I've spent a lot of time and energy preparing, and I'm not ready to take these papers yet. Go relax and chat for the last few minutes. It's not a race," Kara said and felt the paper, picking up on the subtle markings that the teen had scribbled onto the paper. "I don't know if this applies to you but I need to be able to read the paper. Just, ya know, you did it very fast," Kara said, both addressing the issue she had noticed and covering for her ability to have noticed. She took a deep breath and turned her head to Casey as though she was looking her in the eyes. "Tomorrow, okay?" she said, re-iterating her statement about not accepting the paper today.
Kara turned to DJ and nodded. "Right, uh... 4th and 8th periods this year. I mean, so far," she stated.

Casey moving up - and her line of questioning - catches both Alex and Kaien's attention, both of the boys raising a brow. What was with this girl? Was she smart but attention deficit? Dumb but a bit of a savant? What was her deal? Kaien took a moment to look over his shoulder at the meerkats again, offering them a smile, wave, and wink again - this time watching their responses! Alex, instead, watched Casey for a bit more. He stared for a bit, eying her over a bit...then he snaps back to reality, shaking his head a bit as that fucking noise returned. "...I need to head to the restroom." He says, just getting to his feet and moving for the rear door! Unless stopped, he'd go to pace a bit in the hallway for a bit...

Since the mention of homework Edwin had rested his chin on his arms folded on the desk infront of him with a bummed out expression. Man! Homework first day. Not even the kind of 5 - 10 minute stuff this required some research. Good thing his best friend is really into astronomy... only problem then is it needs to be in his own words and not just copied. Edwin watched as Casey had already handed hers in? He waited and listened in to most of the conversation. When she mentioned brail it had dawned on him; Ms. Garza was blind!
Edwin sat back up again as Julie passed the papers back to him. He smiled warmly and took them with a small thank you. He was fine in most social situations mostly because he had gotten used to not sparking up any conversations unless someone engaged him. So this surprise she greeted him. "Heya, Julie!" he replied with a toothy grin. "I'm Eddy and this is my best bud, Kenny". He leaned over and gave Kenny a playful few pats on the shoulder. "This guy's gonna help me get through this class!"
Remembering he still had the papers; Edwin perked up with a bit of an 'oh' face, turning back to pass them to Rose and Robert. After turning back and gathering his belongings together to get ready to leave Edwin notices someone smiling at him. He naturally smiles back, returning a wave to be friendly but pauses a bit at the wink. "Hm, what's he winkin' 'bout?" he thinks to himself with a raised brow, looking at his shirt quickly to see if he had something on it. Nothin'. He shrugged it off to himself and stood up, hoisting his loaded backpack over his shoulder and stretching out a bit. This day had gone by pleasantly quick. "Time ta go, I guess. You ready, Kenny?"

[Homeroom 1 } Rose took the papers from Edwin saying "Thanks ." with a smile then pasted them back, she thought about the homework questions while she was putting her things away she blinked and looked towards the teachers desk hearing the floodgates of questions from Casey, Rose watches for a moment thinking If she ain't carefull she's going to blow a fuse or something. She picked up her pack and sat it on her desk and watched the clock and at times watching Casey hyperactive questioning. Robert grabbed his books and stuffed them into his pack, smiling at Julie as he sees her slump in her chair. Thinking to himself ~Yep I feel the same.~
[Homeroom 2 ] Venrosh's head was down feeling embarrassed about her foolish action before the whole class. She pushed her notebook into her leather book bag and was collecting her thoughts when she herd her name. She looks up and seeing Jacob there she sits up at once and nods to him and gives a rather sharp toothy smile. Ahh ..... well I'm not trying to be this Goth thing with the whole uhh how would one say it . umm moody dismal and bitchieness ... but I do rather like the clothing, it so reminds me of. . . . " she pauses for a moment " Umm well tis fine clothing." she extends her hand "Thou are Jacob yes?"

Lexy saw Julie mouth 'This again,' but was confused as to whom or what she was talking about, so she chose to ignore it. She took the papers from Ms. Garza, looking at the questions again, and passed one back to Kenny with a smile. 'I can answer these in 5-10 minutes,' the meerkat thought to himself. No sooner had Kenny taken the sheet from her paw than Eddy was patting him on the shoulder and introducing him to a girl as his BFF and mentor. Kenny blushed a bit at the attention and flattery he was getting. "I'm hopeful that I can help Eddy help himself," he said, casting a stern look at his friend. As he was packing away his things, he also noticed Kaien, and how he winked at them. Again. This guy was making him feel nervous. "Uh... yeah," he replied to Eddy.

No homework? No problem. Eugene was about to slink out of his seat when he was approached by one of the Roberts twins. Wait, only one of them? He expected them to operate inseparably together. His eyes darted around the classroom to find the other twin as he entertained the first. "Party? Hell yeah! ...I'm always up for a LAN party," he teased, winking back and aiming finger guns at the ferret.

After observing the feline’s predatory grin and her peculiar behavior, Jacob ended up staring at her offered hand in thought. He couldn't quite place the girl's ethnicity based on looks or the sound of her voice, but she had an oddly formal way of speaking. It was actually kind of cute. If just a little confusing. He had no desire to bring it up and embarrass her though.
Instead he returned her smile with his own, casually pressing a digit to the bridge of his glasses to adjust them, then reached out with the same paw to shake her hand in a friendly gesture. "That I am," he confirmed, even though it was redundant at this point. "It's a pleasure to meet you. And... to be completely honest, you didn't really strike me as the Goth-type, anyway. Your choice of wardrobe is all the more interesting though, since you aren't."
Though he didn't outright say it, he was curious to know why she chose to dress in a manner that was sure to invite negative attention, and perhaps even convince the other students she really was a Goth. If it did, she'd find herself ostracized pretty quick and have no choice but to join some clique to maintain any status. Most likely with actual Goths. He'd hate to see such a pretty girl relegated to the fringe of the student body, simply because of what she wore.
"Uhm... just a bit of advice, though," he said softly, looking a little sheepish; it wasn't really his place to say, after all. "I'd lose the make-up."
